?????

There are so many Socket A motherboards available today that it's hard to pick the right one for your needs. I like to categorize them into different groups - Overclocking, Video/Picture Editing, Basic, and Advanced. The board we have here today from Gigabyte, the GA-7VAXP Ultra, falls under every category listed above. The board sports the popular VIA USB 2.0 chip as well as IEEE 1394 for video and picture editing and super fast file transfers, support for DDR400 RAM for overclockers and performance enthusiasts, 333FSB for total support of the newly released AMD "Barton" processors (may require a bios update), AGP 8X for serious gamers, and onboard AC'97 sound as well as 10/100MB LAN just to name a few. We found this board to be very easy and straightforward to use but we also found it to have some annoying limitations.

Gigabyte is very well on the verge of becoming the top motherboard manufacturer. Every time you visit their website or read about them it seems they are releasing an even better and more innovative product. They are the first and only to my knowledge to incorporate dual bios chips as well as the new 6-Phase Power Unit onto their newest motherboards. The motheboard we will be reviewing does not use the 6-Phase Power Unit, which is only included on their newer p4 boards, but it does include the Dual Bios setup (a gift from god) which you will read about later on in this article.
